Construction Waste Clean-Up and Lawn Restoration in Waipu
After a house build on a rural property in Waipu, the owners were left with a problem—piles of leftover concrete, bricks, and metal dumped in a corner of the section. They wanted the waste dealt with properly and the land returned to usable lawn. Windy Corner was brought in to sort the clean-up and restore the area.
Project Summary
This was a classic post-build issue. Non-toxic leftover construction material, mainly broken concrete, bricks, and bits of scrap metal, had been pushed aside and left in piles. Over time, this turned a chunk of the section into dead space. It was too rough to mow, and too unsafe to walk on or use.
Our first task was to bury the clean, inert materials. Using the 8-tonne excavator, we dug a disposal trench on-site and buried the debris at a safe depth, well below the surface and away from future work zones. These materials won’t break down or contaminate the soil and are commonly buried where appropriate.
Next, we reshaped the ground. We spread topsoil evenly across the area, using our Skid Steer equipped with a push bar to level and smooth it. Finally, we tracked over the surface to compact it and create a firm, even finish ready for grass seed.
Outcome + Client Benefit
The property now has a safe, clean lawn where there used to be piles of concrete and rubble. The buried material is stable and won’t interfere with future use. The area is levelled, compacted, and ready to seed. It's no longer a problem spot—just usable, tidy land again. The owners gained back space and peace of mind, the law is now ready for the next project: a custom chicken run.
